Questions
Frequently Asked
What experience level is required for a fishing tour?
Our fishing tours are suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers. Our guides provide assistance and tips to help you improve your fishing skills regardless of your background.
What is the maximum group size?
Our fishing tours can comfortably accommodate groups of up to 16 anglers. For larger groups, please contact us for availability and rates.
What is included in a fishing tour package?
Our fishing tour packages include a guided fishing trip, all necessary fishing equipment, and bottled water. Light snacks are occasionally provided as well. We will also clean and prepare the fish you catch so that you can take them home if you wish.
What should I bring?
Bring an ice chest or cooler to transport your cleaned and bagged fish fillets home. A separate cooler for drinks and snacks is welcome, and we provide bottled water for all guests.
Do I need a fishing license?
The short answer is yes. Generally speaking anyone between the age of 16 and 64 must have a valid fishing license. Because Lake Texoma spans both Oklahoma and Texas, Adventure Pursuit Outfitters recommends the Lake Texoma Fishing License ($12). The Lake Texoma license allows you to fish both the Oklahoma and Texas portions of Lake Texoma without purchasing separate Oklahoma and Texas fishing licenses. It is valid through December 31 following issuance and is valid only on Lake Texoma. Customers are responsible for obtaining the appropriate fishing license before their trip. Consult the state of Oklahoma Wildlife website for current license requirements.
Where can I purchase a Lake Texoma fishing license?
You can purchase a Lake Texoma Fishing License at many retailers, including Walmart, Academy Sports, and some marinas and tackle stores on Lake Texoma. You can also purchase the Lake Texoma License online through the Texas or Oklahoma state wildlife licensing sites. Be aware that you will need to create an account, or use an existing account, to access these sites. Texas: Texas Parks and Wildlife, https://www.txfgsales.com/Default.aspx. Oklahoma: Oklahoma Wildlife Site, https://license.gooutdoorsoklahoma.com/Licensing/CustomerLookup.aspx
What kind of fish do you target?
We primarily fish for striped bass (stripers) on Lake Texoma. We can also provide guided trips for other species, so contact us for more information.
How many fish can I keep?
Current regulations on Lake Texoma allow each angler to keep 2 oversized stripers and 8 box fish. Fishing regulations can change, so we always follow the most current state or local lake regulations.
How long does a trip last?
Most trips last 3 to 6 hours, depending on fishing conditions and how quickly limits are reached.
What happens if we catch our limit early?
Once the limit per angler has been reached, we cannot keep more fish on the boat. If fishing is good and bait remains, we can continue on a catch and release basis until the bait is used up or you are ready to head in.
Are the fish we catch cleaned for us?
Yes. Your catch will be professionally cleaned, filleted, and bagged so it is ready to take home.
Can you accommodate special needs or requirements?
We strive to accommodate all anglers so everyone has a great experience. Please send us an email describing your situation and needs and we will work with you to the extent possible.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my trip?
We understand that plans can change. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact us as soon as possible. The more notice you give, the more options we have to work with you. Cancellations or reschedule requests made well in advance may be eligible for a full credit toward a future trip. However, cancellations made close to the trip date, last minute no-shows, or situations where we have already incurred costs on your behalf may result in a partial refund or no refund at all. Each situation is reviewed on a case by case basis and we will always try to be fair, but we cannot guarantee a refund in all circumstances. If you have questions about your specific booking, please reach out to us directly at apo@adventurepursuitoutfitters.com.
What is your Refund and Cancellation Policy?
Our wish is that every trip is a success filled with great memories and a great story to share with others. We also realize that plans change. For larger group trips we strongly advise collecting all funds in advance of the booking from all parties. If you need to cancel, contact us to reschedule and we will do our best to accommodate your booking needs. A trip can only be refunded if you contact us at least one week or more before the trip.
What happens if there is inclement weather or a weather delay?
Safety is our top priority. If severe weather, high winds, lightning, or dangerous lake conditions make it unsafe to go out, we reserve the right to delay or cancel a trip. In the event of a weather cancellation initiated by us, we will work with you to reschedule your trip at a mutually convenient date at no additional charge. If conditions are borderline, our guide will make the final call on the water. We would rather reschedule than put our guests at risk. Please note that light rain or overcast skies alone are generally not grounds for cancellation, as stripers often bite well in those conditions. If you need to reschedule due to weather concerns on your end, please contact us as early as possible so we can do our best to accommodate you.
